About the project

A small tool for making Codex customization more honest.

Codex Skin Maker is an independent, unofficial browser tool for preparing Codex skin artwork and theme data. It focuses on the decisions a screenshot cannot answer: crop, contrast, package contents, platform boundaries, and recovery.

The project was built after reviewing the public Codex Dream Skin repository and the first wave of Codex skin sites and discussions. The interesting part was not simply putting a background behind an app. It was separating three trust layers: artwork preparation in the browser, a reviewable data package, and a local platform engine with its own powerful permissions. The site documents those layers instead of presenting a decorative ZIP as a one-click installer.

Research and sources

Technical claims are tied to public upstream documentation where possible. Platform behavior can change, so installation guides include review dates and direct source links.

02

Current implementation boundary

The builder accepts one JPEG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF image up to 20 MB, previews three interface states, checks two contrast ratios, and exports a seven-file ZIP recipe. It does not install software, host images, or inspect Codex data.

Editorial policy

Guides prioritize reproducible steps, known limitations, recovery instructions, and artwork rights. We avoid claiming official support, permanent compatibility, or security guarantees that a browser tool cannot provide.
