These Terms govern your use of Codex Skin Maker at codexskinmaker.com. By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

What the service provides

Codex Skin Maker provides an unofficial browser-local design tool, original abstract presets, exported skin recipes, and educational material about Codex skin workflows. The builder helps frame artwork, tune appearance values, preview representative interface states, check contrast, and create a reviewable data-only ZIP.

The site is not an installer, a hosted image-processing service, an official Codex extension, or a provider of OpenAI accounts, models, API keys, Base URLs, or authentication.

Unofficial status

Codex Skin Maker is independent and is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or supported by OpenAI. OpenAI, Codex, and related marks belong to their respective owners. References are used to describe compatibility and subject matter.

Local processing and downloads

The builder relies on browser capabilities and may behave differently across devices, file formats, memory limits, display scales, and browser versions. You are responsible for reviewing exported files, keeping backups, and deciding whether third-party local software should read them.

The exported archive contains data files, not an automatic installer. A valid download does not prove that a current Dream Skin engine or Codex release will support every setting.

Third-party installation software

Installation guides may reference the open-source Codex Dream Skin project or other third-party software. We do not control those projects, their releases, maintainers, security, availability, or compatibility.

Before running local scripts, review the current source and documentation, understand any loopback debugging session, verify that native controls remain interactive, and test the documented restore path. Do not modify protected official application files merely to match a screenshot.

Artwork and intellectual property

You retain whatever rights you already have in artwork you provide. You must have the necessary rights to use, crop, transform, download, share, publish, sell, or distribute every image, character, person, logo, trademark, or other element in your skin.

The original abstract presets supplied by this site may be used and adapted in exported personal or commercial skin recipes, but you may not present the Codex Skin Maker name, logo, website, or editorial content as your own service. Third-party marks remain excluded from any license we can grant.

Acceptable use

You may not use the service to:

  • violate law, privacy, publicity, copyright, trademark, contract, or other rights;
  • distribute malware, deceptive installers, credential stealers, or packages misrepresented as official software;
  • probe, disrupt, overload, scrape abusively, or bypass security controls;
  • falsely claim endorsement by OpenAI, Codex Skin Maker, or an upstream project;
  • hide executable behavior, API credentials, provider changes, or unrelated permissions inside a decorative skin package.

Educational information

Guides are general technical information, not legal, security, or professional advice. Upstream projects and the Codex desktop app can change after a review date. Always confirm current primary documentation before installation or recovery.

Availability and changes

We may change, limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site. We may also update formats, presets, supported browsers, limits, guides, or these Terms without guaranteeing backwards compatibility.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, availability, compatibility, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Codex Skin Maker and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of data, artwork, access, revenue, or reputation; application breakage; account issues; security incidents; or claims arising from third-party software or content.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability for claims related to the service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the service during the previous twelve months, which is normally zero for the free builder.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify us against claims, losses, and expenses arising from your unlawful use, your artwork or distribution, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights.

Governing terms

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the agreement for use of the site.
